The French Alpine wedding of Si and Helen was an incredible weekend to be a part of. It expressed everything about the couple, and the magic place they call home- Meribel.

On returning, everything I knew and adored about the mountains was the same, but altered. The peaks and cliffs of the valley were no longer white, but dressed in lush green; the rond point terrace was filled with the same familiar faces, this time out of board gear and in suits and dresses; even the clatter of boards and ski boots on the decking was replaced with the more delicate tip-tap of high heel shoes. I won't lie, it threw me a bit, but seeing the place decorated with flowers and candles in jam jars, just brought out another kind of romance for me.
I hope these photos give a sense of just how beautiful the day felt, and how charged with emotion and laughter it was.
Pockets of perfect popped up in familiar places- those alpine wood lined rooms; the sun set touching the ridge at the ronnie; genepi.. just genepi.
I had not long done a wedding in the town I grew up in, and over the course of the day I realised, this was a wedding in my second home-town.
Meribel is an incredibly magic place, with an addictive sense of fun, friendship and community. Simon and Helen are an integral part of this, and the way they created such a personal wedding, without losing that magic, was not lost on a single person. Daisy B, who's band played an awesome set, asked me how I rate a wedding after I've photographed it. I pondered a moment through tired eyes at 1am, with ladies dancing past me, laughter and chicks of shot glasses waving across the terrace; well-loved dogs trotting about, and fairy lights dotted across the shadowed backdrop of mountains, and responded..
"...It's the atmosphere.. and the people are the heart of that whatever you photograph..."
I think I speak for everyone who was a part of this wedding, when I say a huge congratulations to Si and Helen, and an even bigger thank you for having us all be a part of it.
Hope you enjoy the photos guys..
