This week, the blog proves that wedding season is far from over. Steve and David threw quite a wedding at Fanhams Hall this weekend, and took full advantage of the first blushes of Autumn. The details here were gorgeous, as were the faces and laughter. These guys had some seriously cute, dapper style.. Hands up, who else loves Autumn?
Just as we all start to curl up under blankets, and grumble about the temperature drop, Autumn steps in. We might be reaching for warmer jackets, with a sad longing for longer summer days, but just as we lose hope,
Autumn throws up every warm colour in its palette.
I love this time of year, even the sunlight is different; it's like the earth tips its head away from the sun and sighs.
Pulling up the driveway on Saturday morning, flagged either side by trees dropping pastel yellow leaves, I felt excited. How is it, the season changes feel so exciting? I knew I'd take full advantage of these first Autumn moments, and found myself pulling every single possible detail, out and into the setting. And it wasn't for nothing... Steve and David had styled their wedding uniquely, with Autumn in mind. I particularly loved the feathers that threaded through the theme.
Their wedding styling felt like a fresh Autumn walk,
with references to what one what might find during a walk in the woods... pine cones, tall grasses, dropped feathers, wood textures and golden flourishes,
like low sunshine dappling through the trees.
Forgive my indulgent description, but you notice these things when editing for a blog piece. And you appreciate them all the more.
Most importantly though, Steve and David were the cutest couple. After 11 years together, they had already proven that their relationship had the greatest of foundations. They were comfortable together, and an absolute team; their friends were warm and excitable and added to the atmosphere no end.
When we were shooting their couple photos, I would catch them out adjusting each others tie/bowtie, and felt it to be the sweetest of affections. Worrying more about how the other felt and looked, than themselves. I smiled a lot that day, and even managed a small skip and dance when the sun came streaming in behind the old garden wall.
Light and love.. that's all I need to do what I do,
to the best of my ability. And both these things were there in abundance and total variety.
Thank you for trusting me with your gorgeous day guys, you threw a brilliant wedding!
I am off for a much needed holiday, and may even leave my camera behind (shock horror!) but will be back on here in three weeks, with some beautiful baby shoots and other shoots I cannot wait to share. Keep soaking up Autumn people.. she's an ever changing spectacle.
