This week it is love at first sight for... me and the wedding venue! Ben and Ellie chose to marry in their stunning locale of Henley-on-Thames, but not just in any venue; in possibly one of the most eccentric and delightful places I've ever photographed- Fawley Hill. And with such a brilliant couple, who are constant banter, laughs and affection, I couldn't have been happier to shoot. And wait until you see the rainbow which made an appearance during their couple photos! Dreamy...

I arrived super early, as always, to get my eye in and lay the day out before it got started. Upon pulling up, the wonderful eccentricity of the place was littered everywhere; old phone boxes, restored steam trains, more old signs than I could ever count for cigarettes, tea, ale, and all the wonderments of a post-war life. Once you walked past the railway bridge and over the railway lines, you saw the
beauteous old station sat proudly in all its colourful and happy grandeur.
The word vintage depicts to me, a sort of edited look back through contemporary eyes; a rifling through the past of what could be cool now, and the tossing out of everything else. But this place is not at all styled or forced.
It feels like a collection, a homage, and a time-machine.
There is also something of the surreal here, like you've woken up in the mind of someone fantastically eccentric.
Animals of all species wonder the land together, amongst giant railway paraphernalia, a fairground carousel and more. To call this place unique would be accurate, but not nearly dynamic enough. It is eccentric, exciting and entirely genuine.
So, you may have noticed, I fell head over heals for this place. But don't worry, I didn't forget to focus on the main event. This place spoke pretty perfectly of the couple who chose to marry there. Ben and Ellie's loveliest moments slotted perfectly into the place. They, with all their friends and family, were just as characterful as Fawley Hill itself! It was all perfection-
Everything from their gorgeous bright florals, to the bubble machine;
from the bowties the bride designed and made, to the colourful marquee decorations. It all fitted into the fun and bright feeling of the place, the people and the day.
I could talk about how much I adored my time with just the two of them, during the afternoon and at sunset. But to be honest, the thing I came away with most vividly, was a feeling. Both creatively and personally, the whole day felt like a breath of fresh air,
like I'd rubbed my eyes and could see things a little sharper, brighter, and clearer.
Head here to take a look at their pre-wed shoot, which really was the sweetest, early in the Summer. There's a pretty adorable Q&A in there too, about how they met...
For this I want to say a huge thank-you to the brilliant couple. Congratulations on such a wonderful day, and high fives to all your friends and family for being so welcoming and wonderful. Thanks also to Caroline of Perfect Peony, for being such a wicked Co-ord on the day! Aaaand, Ginger Zest's DF AND GF wedding cake was literally beyond delicious. Can we go back and do it again please?!
